April is Earth Month, and we started it off right at our Earth Day celebration on April 2nd!
We were joined by several earth-friendly and educational groups, covering topics from wildlife and renewable energy to water conservation and composting.
In addition to the educational exhibitors, the Nexus Tiny Green Home was also open for touring, as well as a Tesla Motors Model S sedan (a huge hit with attendees, especially with all the recent buzz generated by Tesla’s big announcement). Kids were able to run off all their excess energy (see what we did there!) with other activities like a human powered smoothie bike, a moon bounce, sidewalk chalk drawing, and of course all of the regularly offered exhibits at the space museum.
“Since the missions of Nexus Energy Center and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center include educating the public about different fields of science like aerospace, energy, the environment and other areas, putting on this partnered event just made perfect sense for us. This will certainly become an annual event for our organizations, and we can’t wait to grow it and make it even better next year,” says Nexus executive director Ruchi Singhal.
