A note from the Director-

Dear Nexus Supporters,

What an exciting month for Nexus. We have been participating in many community events this February 2014 in Montgomery, Huntsville and Decatur. All in all we shook hands with hundreds of people and helped share our mission of building a smart energy community through education, conservation, efficiency, and renewables.

Feb 18-20, At the ABLE (Alabama Better Living Expo) in Montgomery, I was encouraged to see Alabama small businesses wanting to work with Alabama home-owners to install energy saving measures. We are excited to continue enrolling state-wide quality contractors into our www.alabamawise.org program.

Feb 21, At the Nexus Membership Lunch and Learn: Bringing more EV Charging to Huntsville, a great group of students, entrepreneurs, and citizens gathered to brainstorm moving forward to bring EV charging to Huntsville. We developed some next steps and market penetration plans that will employ our ideas.

Feb 22-23, At the Decatur Home and Garden Show we met many homeowners from Decatur, Hartselle, and Toney who were looking for ways to improve their homes. Our Nexus booth had visitors asking about the new Home Performance with Energy Star brand that we carry and ways to lower high winter utility bills.

Feb 25, At the C4 Conference: Beyond Relief at the Jackson Center in Huntsville over 450 attendees gathered for the Cornerstone Conference for Community Compassion to listen to national leaders in philanthropy. It was truly inspiring to hear that, although mainstream America is becoming disconnected with those in need, organizations like Nexus are empowering communities.

Feb 26, At the Inline Electric Energy Efficiency Expo at the Space and Rocket Center we saw the amazing companies with technologies that are proving to save energy for their customers, and we learned about the incentives that businesses have to reduce energy. Whew! That was one busy February.
