TRES Project: The Greenest Tiny Home in Alabama
Changing your perspective on what building green really means
(Reposted by INDIEGOGO – www.indiegogo.com)
OVERVIEW
The TRES (Tiny, Renewable and Environmentally Sustainable) Project is a modern, yet tiny home to showcase practical energy conservation, efficiency and renewable energy strategies and technologies for homes. We aim to inspire people to rethink the choices they make in their homes by showing just how easy it is to build a high-performance home. Nexus Energy Center is working in cooperation with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) of Alabama, Calhoun Community College, Huntsville Open Tech Coffee and the Home Depot to raise funds, gather materials and mobilize volunteer labor to help build the TRES Project concept.
What We Want to Do:
- Blow minds on just how easy and affordable green building can be with workshops and seminars
- Exhibit a variety of sustainable building materials and their performance relative to conventional materials
- Demonstrate how a typical home or office can achieve net-zero energy usage
- Demonstrate how normal water consumption can be reduced without sacrifice
- Demonstrate how to lower the carbon footprint of an existing building
- Show how great design can make a small space appear much larger and maintain functionality
- Give actual cost for solar power systems by square footage
- Provide hands-on experience and familiarity with high performance buildings
Why Should You Give to TRES?
- It is FINALLY time to put the myths of green building to rest. It’s not hard, it’s not expensive and we’ll prove it! If you help us… Won’t you please help us over the mountain? Pretty please?
- We’re pretty cool. Did you see our team members below?
